Organic v Non Organic
Every year, the Environmental Working Group releases the Dirty Dozen which is a list of the 12 non-organic fruits and vegetables highest in pesticide residues. Organic versions of these fruits and veggies are likely to contain fewer pesticide residues, or alternatively, just pick from the Clean Fifteen list.
Remember, it’s all about getting as much diversity as possible and ideally eating 30 different plants a week. This includes nuts, seeds, pulses, whole grains, fruits, veggies, herbs and spices.
The Clean Fifteen is a list of the non-organic fruits and vegetables which typically use the lowest amount of pesticides to grow them. This year, almost 65% of Clean Fifteen samples had no detectable pesticide residues.
